Testing for Chlamydia is simple, quick, and in the main, painless. A sample of cells are taken either by swabbing your genital area with a cotton bud or by taking a sample of urine in a container which are sent off for culture and sensitivity to a laboratory. Please make sure you have a full bladder i.e. refrain from passing urine for at least 2 hours prior to your appointment to get the most accurate result.
The test will provide accurate results if you wait for 2 weeks after you may get infected. If you notice any symptoms or your partner has already been diagnosed, it is essential to get tested soon. Those who are below 25 are at higher risk of infection and so testing is necessary either once a year or each time you have sex with a new partner.
You will get your results within 24 hours or on the next working day.
