Chlamydia & Gonorrhoea

The tests for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea are discounted just now. They are the most common of the bacterial infections and happen when you have unprotected sexual contact. It affects both men and women.

Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea are known active infections occurring simultaneously. We have a designer package which is suitable for both infections. These infections are easily passed from person to person, (particularly in the age groups 16-24 who are considered a high risk group) and if you are sexually active and regularly change partners and fall within this criteria.

If you do have unsafe, unprotected sex, it is recommended that you get tested on a regular basis. We can advise you and offer counselling to prevent future problems with your sexual health and wellbeing.

After a thorough examination and medical history you will need to produce a urine sample. A small pot will be given to you for the urine sample which will be sent to the laboratory for testing. If swabs are required these will be done by the doctor at the same time,

FAQs on chlamydia and gonorrhea

Gonorrhoea is usually found as a corresponding infection to Chlamydia and both are bacterial STIs. The risk factors involved for both STIs are similar and if you have one, it is advisable to test for the other in case you have both.
Gonorrhoea and Chlamydia are common, unfortunately. It is important you get tested for both infections if you have had unprotected sex or several sexual partners (regardless of sexual orientation or age) or are an intravenous user. Teenagers and young adults have recently been identified as the highest risk group.
Having an existing STI is a risk factor for contracting an additional STI. If you had an infection and continue unsafe, unprotected sex you are potentially putting your health at greater risk for long-term complications like infertility. Both these infections are serious and you should get treated soon as possible and also avoid passing it on to other partners. This may result in a merry-go-round and get re-infected again.
