For an accurate summary of general health, one of the best tools you can use are blood tests. At Walk In Clinic, we have created a series of comprehensive blood panels to provide you with a cost effective, comprehensive snapshot of your biomarkers. This tests typically include: kidney and liver function, cholesterol levels, haematology and markers of any underlying diseases or anomalies.
Comprehensive blood profiling testing is primarily used to highlight the essential health issues that need to be addressed before they develop into more serious conditions. It can also help identify how some lifestyle choices have affect your body and the blood cells extracted will reflect any potential problems. Our specialists will give advice and options to maintain optimum health benefits.
Furthermore, the comprehensive blood profile test can confirm if there are any undetected existing medical conditions, including osteoporosis, anaemia, or diabetes.
A lot of people have comprehensive blood profile testing as part of their annual check-up. The doctor will want to screen you for additional health problems; keep a close watch on or record of any chronic conditions you may have and confirm that the prescribed medications are not having any adverse influence on other parts of your body.
Through comprehensive blood profiling, the doctor can determine the following:
The comprehensive blood profile covers more than 40 varieties of markers. And, this includes the following:
Several things can affect the comprehensive blood result i.e. drinking, or exercise, medications (hormone, insulin, and steroid therapy) and damaged cells at collection or processing.
The comprehensive blood profiling test does not requires you to fast, however if you have eaten within a close proximity to your test, your glucose results may be higher than normal. It is recommended to avoid eating for at least 6 hours prior to the appointmentasthisachieves the most accurate results. I.e. you need to have a light dinner in the evening followed by a skipped breakfast in the morning.
Furthermore, you need to be well-hydrated prior to your appointment by drinking plenty of water before you come. You can drink black coffee or black tea while fasting, but without sugar or milk.
This test is a simple and quick blood test. A needle (you may feel a small scratch or prick) is inserted into a vein in your arm, near the elbow, and a small amount of blood is taken for analysis. Our phlebotomists are very experienced, and regularly take blood from needle-phobic patients and children, so you will be in good hands.
There is no special time to do a blood test especially a comprehensive blood profile. However it is helpful if you are feeling a little unwell or a family member has been diagnosed with a specific condition you are worried about. It is particularly helpful if there is a family history of diabetes or other health problems.
This type of blood profile will detect any underlying health issues that often remain undetected until signs and symptoms of disease appear and by then it is often too late. It will assess your current health condition allowing you to avoid the potential development of a disease. You may need to change some lifestyle choices or the doctor may need to prescribe medications to help you on your way to a healthier you.
Even if you feel healthy there may still be a chance you develop an inherited health condition. Being aware of any potential problems while you are healthy, a comprehensive blood profile test will give you advance notice of any underlying disease processes. Maintaining and/or improving your wellbeing and lifestyle will help you to live a healthier and much longer life.
